The Spitfires

Saturday, November 10, 2005, DeWitt Clinton High School's Corps of Cadets Governor's Guard Drill Team faced their second challenge of the new season against a seasoned field of tough competeters at the Annual Naugatuck Drill Championship, hosted by Naugatuck High School.

The highlight of the competition was the debut of the Governor's Guard Spitfire Exhibition Drill Team, coached by Technical Sergeant Kurt Duncker. After only one week of preparation they challenged a tough field that included the returning champions, the Blue Knights of Southern Regional High School. The Spitfires fought hard and marched their way to a well-deserved third place.

Another achievement worth mentioning is that the Armed Standard Team managed to triumph over the two powerhouses of armed drill, the Blue Knights of Southern Regional High School, and The X-Squad of Xavier.

Although the Governor's Guard did not win the overall, they did manage to take more trophies than any other team.
